UX Director

This is a role for someone who combines strategic thinking with strong design leadership, and who wants to influence both business outcomes and how teams work.

The role

As UX Director at Above, you’ll set the direction for UX across projects and client collaborations. You’ll operate at the intersection of people, technology, and business — ensuring that design drives measurable impact.

You’ll lead and elevate the UX discipline, guiding teams, shaping ways of working, and strengthening client partnerships. From early strategy to delivery, you ensure that experiences are coherent, scalable, and aligned with both user needs and business goals.

This is a highly collaborative and influential role, working closely with leadership, designers, engineers, and clients.

What you’ll do

Define and drive the UX vision across projects, clients, and internal initiatives

Lead and mentor designers — building a strong, high-performing UX team

Own and evolve UX processes, frameworks, and ways of working

Partner with clients at a strategic level — connecting UX to business impact

Guide complex projects from discovery to delivery, ensuring quality and consistency

Align design decisions with technical feasibility and commercial goals

Champion user-centered thinking across disciplines and stakeholders

Contribute to business development — shaping proposals, pitches, and opportunities

Elevate the overall design maturity within Above

Who you are

You’re a senior UX leader with a strong track record of driving impact through design — both hands-on and at a strategic level.

Proven experience leading UX across complex products or organizations

Strong ability to connect user needs with business strategy

Experienced in mentoring and growing design teams

Excellent communication skills — able to influence senior stakeholders

Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity

Strong understanding of end-to-end UX, from research to delivery
